Lochleven Seafood Café
This review is taken from the 2011 edition.
Sitting on the shores of Loch Leven, the Seafood Café grew from its roots as a shellfish distribution centre. Public demand for the seafood arriving at its doors each day led to the creation of a relaxed and informal bistro led by head chef Barry Moran, formerly of Andrew Fairlie's kitchen at Gleneagles. Mussels, oysters, lobster, crab and razor clams make up the majority of the menu, though meat and vegetarian options are available.
The seafood cannot get any fresher than cooked to order fresh from our own tanks, offering the highest quality Scottish seafood. Our dishes are prepared simply but expertly and our Shellfish Platter has already become a favourite of seafood lovers. The extensive shellfish menu incorporating fresh lobster, langoustines, crab, mussels, surf clams, razor clams, scallops and oysters is complemented by an alternative menu featuring fish, meat and vegetarian options. We have local beers and an extensive wine list which will complete any meal. Both inside or outside dining on our terrace all with spectacular Highland views.
