Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Nestled at the bottom of a steep, rocky slope in the pretty coastal village of Aberdour, the view in its title is certainly to the fore, with wide, high windows around two of the four walls offering a stunning beyond the village’s craggy Hawkcraig point. An innovative hamper-style starter allows you to indulge in a handsome sampler of the starter menu; for mains, a trio of halibut with a butternut squash puree showcases Chef Tim Robson’s creative flair with the best catches of the day.

Fife Larder

Hidden away on the shores of the Firth of Forth, under the Hawkcraig cliffs and near the town of Aberdour, the aptly named Room With a View restaurant lives up to its location with a menu of fresh seafood supplied by HS Murray fishmongers in Inverkeithing. Fish and shellfish comes from Pittenweem and Newhaven, with Forth lobsters and oysters available with a day’s notice, and Puddledub steak also available by pre-order. Yet the exclusively seafood-orientated menu (with one vegetarian option) is what visitors come for, and the sense of destination dining is accentuated by the offer of village pick-ups for those who don't wish to negotiate the back roads.
