Traditional beer-focused pub with legendary hardcore/metal/punk jukebox and equally legendary nachos.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
One thing’s for sure, if you eat at the Auld Hoose, you won’t leave hungry. Towers of their sharing nachos are both a meal and a challenge – as the piled-high plate layered with chips, guacamole, chilli, cheese and sour cream is set down on your table it feels like a gauntlet has been thrown down. For every meat dish on the menu, there’s a vegan or veggie equivalent. Vegan hot dogs are just as juicy and satisfying as their meat-based counterparts, piled high with whatever toppings you fancy including vegan cheese, onion rings and sweet chilli sauce. The crispy falafel burger paired with spicy vegan chilli makes a messy but delicious feast, all with a side of addictive skinny fries. A solid rotation of guest ales and craft beers are available on tap and the jukebox still packs one of the finest metal, punk and rock collections in the city.
