Combining genuine Italian service with the convenience of a chain, Tony Macaroni offers a reliable choice for a meal in the West End.
This West End venue, one of thirteen of Tony’s ever-increasing presence across Scotland, is a people-pleasing outfit that caters for most everyone. With a mezzanine level and cellar-chic style bar area, this popular spot boasts favourites like pasta and pizza, as well as stacked burgers. The enormous portions and relaxed atmosphere certainly keep the customers coming back. To start, a large portion of polpette – flavoursome meatballs swimming in a rich tomato sauce with melted cheese – are great alongside the garlic bread. Or try the prawns, deep-fried in a sesame batter and tasty when dunked in the accompanying basil-infused dipping sauce. Mains wise, there’s no beating a chicken Milanese – crispy chicken coated in breadcrumbs is sizzling and tastes great beside the penne arrabiatta. Or, for seafood lovers, linguine allo scoglio – a steaming bowlful of pasta adorned with little mollusc gems of mussels, clams and prawns. The famous Nardini’s ice-cream is the perfect end to an Italian feast so try to leave space – if you can.
