From fish and chips in the bar, to luxurious tasting menus, this wee hotel/bar/restaurant has a lot going on pretty Aberlady.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This restaurant with rooms at Aberlady on East Lothian’s golf coast sets out its stall on various fronts. For locals, it’s a daytime coffee shop, while those enjoying a day out from the city might look to the fine-dining restaurant, or take in an informal lunch or supper after a bracing walk on the beach. The bar menu nods to fine dining with dishes such as lobster tortellini along with ever-popular burgers and fish and chips. Numerous malts and brandies and an impressive wine list (there’s a bottle or two on the three-figure end of the scale) introduce the more up-scale mood of the à la carte, while the five-course tasting menu gives chef Michael Mozdzen full play with the likes of foie gras, quail eggs, halibut and venison.

Honouring Scotland's fruitful culinary heritage with a menu filled with rich offerings, Ducks Restaurant offers a cosy hideaway. Sourcing the finest produce from East Lothian, the chef crafts a high-end selection, including a succulent venison burger with quail eggs, or fresh monkfish with potato crush and foraged wild greens.
