Wildfire Scottish Steak & Seafood Bistro
Small city centre surf and turf specialists.
Its location at the west end of Rose Street ensures a steady stream of customers to this casual little diner. The brightly lit interior reveals stone walls and plain rather than fashionable décor. Specialising in both steaks and seafood, the menu covers uncomplicated Scottish bistro staples such as a smoky Cullen skink or haggis, as well as interesting specials such as potted crab or crayfish cocktail, depending on the season. Presentation is gastropub-reminiscent, with a cheese-crusted fish pie cooked in an individual dish accompanied by a smattering of salad. The pie is full of fish and prawns, though the sauce is overwhelmed a little by potato. The Aberdeen Angus steaks are well-seasoned and precisely cooked, with hand-cut chips in the form of fat wedge-like fingers. Desserts are traditional, from a serviceable sticky toffee with a warming gingerbread ice-cream to a nutty crumble with a berry base.
