Don’t be put off by the entrance – hinting at a restaurant that puts a cheesy theme first – for inside is a colourful, spacious yet pleasantly intimate space. Menus may proclaim 'the food of love', yet the twisted metal table dividers and heavy wooden wall hangings offer the sophistication of a more upmarket Indian. The restaurant embraces cultural diversity, with the menu available in 11 languages, offering an array of regional dishes from Himalaya, South India, Kashmir and the Punjab, as well as a mouthwatering selection of fish and tandoori dishes. Monkfish marinated in lime juice, dusted in Indian herbs, spices and cooked on the tawa, served with Goan sauce and tangy potatoes is a visual delight, while the traditional Bengali fish curry cooked in mustard oil is rich and saucy. Starters include tandoori lamb chops, haggis pakora and soft, spicy marinated duck, while the chef’s speciality is fish Lahori – flaky, soft and marinated in chili, garlic and spices. Great choice and satisfying portions help ensure a return trip to sample something different, just as the Kama Sutra should.

If you’re a lover of all things exotically spicy, prepare for a passionate love affair at the sumptuously sassy Kama Sutra Restaurant in the heart of bustling Sauchiehall Street. When the restaurant was first opened in 1996 by Harlequin Restaurant Group it caused a sensation. Fifteen years on, the ‘wow’ factor is even more evident as it is now the flagship restaurant of the eponymous, recently formed Kama Sutra Restaurant Group.
The seduction scene is set against a backdrop of stunning décor, sensuous lighting, beguiling greenery and a profusion of erotic and imposing wall carvings sourced from the temple region of Madhya Pradesh in India.
