Black Medicine Coffee Company
Busy wee coffee shop, popular with students, shoppers and office workers alike.
With clever use of varnished rustic wooden benches to give a sense of privacy, Black Medicine allows for easy conversation even when busy. Students settle down in quiet corners with a laptop, or dash in and out in-between lectures. Table service is prompt – soup, bagels, ciabatta and croissants are listed on the chalkboard and there’s a range of home baking which can, and does, sell out. High in the corner a Mexican god presides above the staircase, showing the way to the downstairs space where cosy nooks provide quiet corners and customers play board games. It’s apparently the perfect spot for that awkward first date and with friendly staff and coffee this good, why go to a high street chain?
