More than 50 of Edinburgh's finest cocktail bars open their doors for a weekend of masterclasses, tastings, pop up events and a whopping number of cocktails
The inaugural Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend takes place in over 40 of Edinburgh's most popular cocktail bars, from Fri 6–Sun 8 October.
Over the years, Edinburgh – the capital of a country with a fascinating distilling heritage – has become more and more attractive to bartenders and cocktail aficionados across the world. With great bars popping up every month and a team of enthusiastic bartenders all itching to show off their creations, there's plenty of drinking (in moderation) to be done.
The Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend is all about mixing up your night out, giving you a chance to bar crawl your way across the city, rather than just setting up camp at your local. The concept is simple: buy a £5 wristband from edinburghcocktailweekend.com, head to any, or all of the 40 plus bars participating and watch as the pros mix up their signature cocktails, available to wristband holders for just £4.
Free masterclasses and tastings are also held over the weekend as well as exclusive pop up spaces and events, so keep an eye on the website for more details in the run up to the weekend.
It's important to note that registration opens for the masterclasses four weeks before, and those who have already secured a wristband will be put to the top of the pile. At that time organisers will also reveal each of the bars' tipple of choice, helping you to prioritise which ones to visit first.
From carefully executed cocktails at Ishka on Morrison Street to Scandi vibes at Joseph Pearce's on Elm Row (and plenty to drink in between) there's a fair few bars on the list – check out the full rundown below:
