A culinary winter wonderland at the EICC 13–15 November
Christmas wonderlands aren't just about ice skating and Santa's Grottos. If you're a foodie at heart or you love a good tipple, Foodies Festival Christmas has a range of attractions for you, including an artisan Christmas market, Champagne Ski Bar, Gin Theatre and plenty of top chefs in tow to get revellers into the festive spirit.
In 2015, Foodies Festival Christmas will visit:
EICC, Edinburgh, Fri 13–Sun 15 Nov
The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, Fri 27–Sun 29 Nov
Harrogate International Centre, Fri 11–Sun 13 Dec
Head to the Aga Rangemaster Chefs Theatre to see celebrated chefs share their best loved Christmas recipes and tips – from cooking the perfect Turkey to when to start making your Christmas pudding.
In Edinburgh, confirmed chefs include Jamie Scott (MasterChef The Professionals Winner 2014); Scott Davies (Michelin starred, The Three Chimneys); Jacqueline O'Donnell (Great British Menu Scotland Winner); and Neil Forbes (Café St Honore).
In London, confirmed chefs include Adam Simmonds (Michelin Star & Great British Menu Winner 2014); Dhruv Baker (MasterChef Winner 2010); David Degiovanni (Union Street Café); Kim Woodward (Savoy Grill); and Matt Robinson (Bluebird Café).
In Harrogate, confirmed chefs include Murray Wilson (Norse); Lionel Strub (The Clarendon Hotel); Louis Troyano (Great British Bake Off); Christopher Blackburn (Yorkshire Pudd); Sara Danesin Medio (MasterChef Finalist 2011); and Saira Hamilton (small aubergine).
You can expect a picture of traditional and modern dishes, as well as Retro Recipes to set your imagination alight. Think multi-coloured cheese and jellies and green piped potatoes, while the chefs will also give classic dishes like Baked Alaska, Chicken Kiev and Sherry Trifle their own twist.
Over at the Christmas Market, you'll find over 150 artisan producers, while the Pudding Hall is lined with stalls selling festive favourites like mulled wine, eggnog, mince pies, Christmas cakes, macaroons and marzipan bonbons.
Each festival will also have its own Gin Theatre, featuring Christmas cocktail-making masterclasses. And in the Drinks Theatre, wine, champagne and craft beer experts will host masterclasses too.
Head to the Street Food Village to sample flavours from all over the world. Or if you're after a glass of fizzy, the Champagne Ski Bar has you covered. The Elf Cookery School caters to little ones, with activities like baking snowballs and gingerbread men. And over at the Cake & Bake Theatre, you'll get to try 'Naughty & Nice' recipes – Christmas food with and without sugar – including spiced orange vinegar and medieval wine.
Every Foodies Festival Christmas event has its own live music, carollers and entertainment throughout the weekend to put you right in the Christmas spirit. For a wintry take on the famous Foodies chilli content, enter the Chilly-Eating Competition and take part in the Christmas Bumper Quiz. There's even a photo booth where you, your family and friends can take snaps of you looking your best in Christmas jumpers.
