Preview: The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust's Scottish Game Fair 2014

This year’s Scottish Game Fair will once again be hosted by Scone Palace with the three day event kicking off on Fri 4 Jul. The countryside showcase, run by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, invites people of all ages to enjoy the festivities which include specialty food and drink exhibitions, cookery demonstrations, fishing, birds of prey demonstrations and more. New attractions to this year’s fair include the daring Welsh Axemen and a World of Gun Dogs display.

Competitions for gundogs, fishing and clay pigeon shooting will be held for amateurs and professionals, while dogs of all abilities are welcome to join agility tests and water retrieves (with professional handlers at hand to provide tips). Heli-Air helicopters will also be operating from the grounds for those interested in short scenic tours of the surrounding countryside. A pony parade, vintage vehicle parade and tug-o-war aim to please the crowd as a few of the main ring events.

For foodies, the Scottish Game Fair Food Hall showcases over 80 different stalls producing fresh fish, cakes, pies, preserves and meat. New to the Food Hall this year is a whisky station hosted by Ian Macleod Distillers. Cookery demonstrations will occur throughout the three days, featuring a several visiting top chefs with an emphasis on fresh produce. In addition to fresh food, vendors selling handcrafted and unusual items will be at the Craft Fair. From jewellery to custom designed furniture and clothing, the fair has something for everybody.
