The Marche Francais on West Mateland Street has extremely good value soup & sandwich deals, plus hot food. All very tasty, and friendly staff.

I love Kilimanjaro's soups - the tomatoey ones in particular. What really seals the deal though is the delcious brown bread that it gets served with (also used for sandwiches), sooo good! I never get the large bowl, as I think the small bowl is filling enough and as such, really good value for money.

Our vote goes to the Hidden Lane Tearoom just off Argyle St in Glasgow. Fresh homemade soup everyday and some really tasty different sandwiches. I reckon it's about a fiver for both too. pretty good deal. x

Earthy Foods on Causewayside. They make incredible organic soup fresh everyday served with a big hunk of crusty bread. They always have a great selection of sandwiches using top notch ingredients & served on everything from their standard granary to amazing walnut bread from a specialist baker in Tollcross.

Both these places do superb sandwiches for lunch or anytime that are actually as filling as meals in themselves. The soups are magnificent - and home made too.

Indeed, the soup and sandwich deals are excellent.

Black Sheep Bistro is the one.

Lovely freshly sliced bread, filling of your choice, salad, coleslaw and crisps.

Salad dressing is so good even if you don't normally like salad you will eat it.

Bowl of homemade soup.

All for £5.

THE TREEHOUSE on Leven Street in Edinburgh gets my vote for the best soup and sandwich Edinburgh or Glasgow has to offer (I live in both cities).

The friendly staff there make their own, daily, delicious soup in house and they offer you a range of different breads with a variety of tasty, fresh fillings (home-made coleslaw is scrummy!)...

...I'm salivating at the thought and it's only 10am!

And that's not to mention the expertly made coffees or the exquisite cakes; birthed and baked by the staff too! YUM!

I need my TREEHOUSE fix.
