Side Dishes (30 July 2009) - The Yard, Gourmet Glasgow & Villeneuve Wines
What's going on in Scotland's restaurants?
THE MAIN feature of the Yard, a new family restaurant and bar off Bonnington Road on the way to Leith, is a large enclosed courtyard for outdoor eating with a decent chunk of it given over as a children’s play area. Run by the family behind Molly’s play area in Ocean Terminal, it has a full adult menu as well as some unprocessed options for the kids. It’s at 2 Bonnington Road Lane, Leith, 0131 554 1314, www.theyardleith.com
A SERIES OF promotions under the Gourmet Glasgow banner is taking place in August, with events and special menus available at members of the Glasgow Restaurateurs Association. They include Jambalaya country music events at venues such as Gamba, the Bothy and Alla Turca. Meanwhile, local restaurant critics (including The List’s own) will spend an evening working as maitre d’ at restaurants around town in aid of charity. Find more details at www.graonline.co.uk
