Cue the drumroll because it's time to announce the longlist nominees for The List's Reader Award 2019, in association with Birra Moretti.
The award gives The List's readers the chance to have their say on what eateries and bars across Glasgow and Edinburgh deserve an honourable mention. Last year, Glasgow's Café Strange Brew and Edinburgh's LeftField left with the coveted prize. This year's longlist nominees includes newly opened establishments, as well as classic favourites.
Readers have been voting in droves for their favourite eateries in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, but it doesn't stop there. Over the next few days, you have the chance to vote for a winner. The ballot closes on Wednesday 20 March at midnight, with the shortlist being revealed on Friday 22 March. So why not show your fave some support by giving them a vote?
Without further ado, here's the longlist in no particular order:
Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery
A fine-dining experience with a Glaswegian backbone.
Chilled out steaks on Woodlands Road with one cut on the menu: an 8oz flat iron.
El Perro Negro
Successful burger pop-up that has evolved into a permanent burger mecca on the Finnieston Strip.
Casual and cool dining with Southeast Asian flavours.
Small plates and seasonal ingredients in a wee space on Elderslie Street.
Modern Italian dishes with Scottish elements on the Southside.
Square Bar & Restaurant
Westend bistro that hosts interesting pop-ups and takeovers.
Mediterranean sharing plates from head chef Rosie Healy of Ottolenghi fame.
Family-run Dennistoun staple that recently extended its deli-restaurant with a branch in Partick.
Ox and Finch
Creative, contemporary cooking with Michelin Bib Gourmand status in Finnieston.
