The List's Reader Award, in association with Birra Moretti, is back for 2019 and is on the search for The List readers' favourite restaurants in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The awards category gives readers the chance to have their say and is the perfect way to say thanks for all the hard work that they do (aside from tipping well).
All voters need to do is head to the voting page and enter the name of the restaurant that they think deserves to win. To add an exciting incentive to voting, those who vote will automatically be entered into a competition to win an exclusive dining experience with Birra Moretti.
Last year in Glasgow the South Side had a moment with Shawlands' much-loved brunch spot Café Strange Brew topping the votes. The runners-up also came from south of the city, with Potluck café in Strathbungo and Malaysian newcomer Julie's Kopitiam getting a commendation. Over in Edinburgh, relaxed neighbourhood eatery LeftField in Bruntsfield took the title of readers' favourite, with runners-up being First Coast restaurant in Dalry and The Roseleaf bar near The Shore in Leith.
The List Reader Award is part of the 26th annual edition of The List's Eating and Drinking Guide, a comprehensive and independently reviewed guide to the dining scene in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The guide comes together through the work of around 80 reviewers who are sent to both cities to eat anonymously at nearly 1000 venues. It aims to present a reliable and informed map of the dining scene from the past 12 months.
Winners are announced in the published version of the Eating and Drinking Guide and will be presented with the accolade at a special ceremony in both cities in April. During the ceremony, there will also be eight, editorially chosen, awards given out to establishments in Edinburgh and Glasgow seen as essential foodie destinations.
