Mark Thomson, Glenfiddich Ambassador to Scotland, offers a recipe using the newest edition to the series
The newest edition to the Glenfiddich's Experimental Series, Fire & Cane is a fusion of sweet and smoky. The latest experiment boldly marries smoky whisky with non-peated malts that have matured in bourbon casks and been finished in the Latin rum casks, highlighting Glenfiddich's sweet and fruity signature style with an overlay of caramel toffee sweetness.
The fire of the newest expression in the Experimental Series provides an explosion of campfire smokiness with oak and peaty notes, finished with lingering woodiness. The cane provides long-lasting sweetness by merging rich sweet toffee with green fruit character, baked apple, and toasted marshmallow with soft spice.
Here, Mark Thomson, Glenfiddich Ambassador to Scotland, uses Fire & Cane to experiment with the typical Old Fashioned recipe, creating this recipe for a smoky and sweet version with a hint of cloudy apple.
