Established in 2009 as the first micro-brewery in Angus for half a century, owner Alan Lawson makes use of the area’s rich golfing history in the branding of his ales. Mashie Niblick, a type of golf club from the days before they were numbered, is a malty ale in the traditional Scottish style. Birdie 3 is a hoppier pale brown ale, then there’s gold beer Gowfer’s Gold. Driver Dark, a stout, uses roasted barley and chocolate malt.
