The 2013 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the 2011 edition.
The Am Fuaran Bar near Achiltibuie is a family run business situated in a renovated croft house. A multi fuel stove radiates a warm welcome and there is a daily menu specialising in locally caught seafood. One of the owners, David Last, has his own boat and catches langoustine and squat lobster which goes directly into the pot. Views across to the Summer Isles add to a value dining experience. Seafood platters start at £20 per person. Besides dishes containing local langoustine, squat lobster, monk fish and lemon sole, there are fresh meat and chicken pies. In true Highland fashion, the business also operates as a take away outlet for those wanting fish and chips to go. The owners also run a campsite just across the road.
