A former banking hall, situated opposite the Bank of England, 1 Lombard Street is a grade II listed neo-classical building with a dazzling domed ceiling by Pietro Agostini. The stunning setting for a large buzzing traditional brasserie and its central circular bar, as well as the renowned Michelin starred fine dining restaurant.

1 Lombard Street, the brainchild of ex-banker and proprietor Soren Jessen, was opened in 1998 and has now become a city institution. Executive Chef and General Manager Herbert Berger was initially poached by Soren and has since established with Head Chef Tim Richardson a remarkable venue; housing an all day kitchen serving food from 7.30am till 11.00pm, incorporating specially sourced ingredients, with some being organic. The kitchen constantly thrills brasserie and bar diners with a Modern European menu, featuring old fashioned classics and a feast of seasonal dishes, with an ever-changing choice of additional recommendations. Tables are booked weeks in advance for the Michelin starred restaurant, with it having become somewhat of a gastronomic temple. Connoisseurs rejoice over Berger's exquisite fine dining menu, in the hushed and luxurious room inspired by Titian's painting "Rape of Europa".

Bathed in the natural light from the domed ceiling, the brasserie is perfect for those that want an early morning meeting, or just to start their day in this serene setting with a delicious breakfast. In the evening, people come to relax in the casually sophisticated atmosphere, to a background of vintage and contemporary lounge music, whilst delectable tapas are served in the bar, to complement the award winning wine and cocktails list. A private room adjacent to the wine cellar is used for a multitude of functions, from meetings and cocktail parties, to presentations and dinners. 1 Lombard Street is also a magnificent space for events: a host of both private and corporate clients choose the venue for their parties at the weekends, where they are able to transform the setting for either a wild themed party or a formal sit-down dinner. Glamorous events have included a superb Nikki Haslam birthday bash and more recently, milliner Cozmo Jenks' birthday party; whilst Louis Vuitton, Nick Rhodes, the BBC, Ralph Lauren and Oswald Boateng have also held various parties there.
