Busby Market

Selling seasonal hogget, lamb and beef, the former is available in spring and beef and autumn lamb from October/November. Alistair and Harriet Busby sell direct to their customers, after uniting their two family farms, and all meat grows slowly on open hillsides. Harriet's farm was mainly arable, and while livestock has now been introduced they continue to grow wheat, oil seed rape and barley, as well as open-air ripened, pick-your-own soft fruit (marketed under the Border Berries brand). A café has been established to reinvigorate pickers with tea and home-made cakes. Busby also rear woodland wild boar and free-range pigs, as well as selling wild Scottish Borders game as far afield as Paris. All meat but game is slaughtered locally in Galashiels, packed on the farm and delivered fresh, never frozen. Delivery is free to all orders over £50.
