Listed in The Larder – in the shops now or buy online.
The café menu features homemade soups, fresh homebaking and daily specials as well as a range of sandwiches, toasties and baked potatoes. The smallish shop looks to keep food miles to a minimum by sourcing produce from the neighbouring Perthshire farms, and rarely sourcing from outwith Scottish soil. The range includes Puddledub pork, Hilton wild boar, Jim Fairlie lamb and mutton as well as their own beef.

After a few years as a customer at the Brig Farm Shop I can honestly say that the quality has not slipped at all. The menu is varied and always satisfying but, A few weeks ago I ordered a full breakfast and did not enjoy it all. Two small slices of black pudding and haggis I did not think were necessary and were dry and inedible. Could be the leftovers are not being monitored so the chef can see what is not being eaten and thus not serve them in the first place. Or simply ask the customer what items are wanted?
I always find the staff attentive, capable and well presented.

Having used your establishment on a fairly regular basis and having recommended it to a number of friends and family it came as a bit of a surprise when we called in for lunch today.
On placing our order we were given our cutlery and awaited our order. When it arrived I picked up my fork and found that it was dirty, it happens, I went to the counter and was given a clean one. My wife then decided that her meal required a bit of seasoning so she picked up the salt cellar but no salt, again it happens, so she went to the next table and managed to find one that was full. Both of the above were accepted by us both as being things that happen when staff don't give much attention to detail.
Worse was to come, half way through our meal I then found a hair mixed in with the salad and we both seemed to lose our appetite.
The waitress did come round and asked if everything was ok and when I replied that it wasn't and listed the things that were wrong she immediately had the salt dish filled but didn't really know what to do or say with regard to the hair.
I was advised by my wife not to make, as she calls it, a scene but wish to make it known to you that your customer satisfaction as far as we are concerned has gone downhill.
The same waitress was at the till when we were leaving and made no attempt to apoligise with regards to the incident.
We normally spend a fair bit of money on meat and other items following lunch, not today !!!!!!!!!!!
However all was not lost, having left a good bit of our meal on the plates we rescued the meat and the dog seemed to enjoy it.
Standards have slipped - perhaps you could let us know when you have regained your quality of service that we used to expect
