The exposed stone walls and hidden corners of the Westerton Arms give it charm aplenty, and it maintains a proud reputation as a family-friendly pub. Children are licensed until 8pm and it’s often packed to the (genuine) rafters with locals returning time and again for the populist, reasonably-priced menu that has steak as the cornerstone. Those who prefer liquid refreshment head for the separate bar, to carry on a history that stretches back to when Jacobites would stop by on breaks from skirmishes with the English army.

We've been going to the Westerton Arms periodically for the past 4-5 years and have never been disappointed. The food tastes fresh, the surroundings are homely and the staff are friendly.

The menu is varied with something from everyone in my family (which can range from 4 to 86 years old depending on who's with us!).

The only down side is that you sometimes have to wait for a table as it's so busy - this doesn't usually take too long. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion.

Good value too!

If your looking at a review for this pub, then you are probably thinking about eating there. That was our first mistake. Our second was actually going there...our third was staying longer than 2 minutes! Service is unbelievably slow, and about as unnattentive as you can get, the table we were sat at was so small and wedged into a corner it was uncomfortable. As for the menu...uninspiring to say the least, unoriginal and showing a total lack of creativity from the kitchen. We ordered the sharing platter as a starter, an assortment of microwaved and deep fried frozen mush and burn garlic bread. The mains, a fillet steak and a burger were appalling. The fillet steak, ordered medium rare, was well overcooked to the point where it was tough and unpalatable, and the bbq cheese burger was disgusting! The bun wasn't defrosted enough, and was still frozen, the sparse sprinkle of cheese hadnt even melted and the onion rings(a side order) were barely defrosted, never mind crispy. The manager eventually cleared our table 20 mins after we had finished eaten and when asked if everything was okay we told him it wasn't but he had no interest, except getting our money. The restaurant is busy, but its busy with older people who clearly must have lost all their tastebuds!!! It feels more like a retirement home canteen than a gastro pub. There are plenty of restaurants in and around stirling, and we certainly won't eat there again. If you have any sense at all, neither will you.
