Hermann is not, in this instance, a German, but an Austrian and this place with its interior confection of tartan carpets and Tyrolean posters would never be mistaken for anything other than a restaurant set up by an Austrian in a Scottish tourist trap. Conveniently located on Broad Street, the cobbled thoroughfare which leads down into Stirling from the castle esplanade, it serves mostly Scottish food to a clientele made up of the local faithful and passing trade. A consistent, sensible menu includes excellent Cullen Skink and some proper food options on the children’s menu alongside the hotdogs.
