Went to lunch at the Social with a friend yesterday. I know it was a Monday but service and food were dreadful. We got our bottle of wine fairly swiftly but had nearly finished it by the time our food arrived. The wrong starters were delivered. Then a miniscule portion of mussels that were meant to be a main course they had forgotten the chips to go with them. I had the tapas cold frittata, deep fried king prawns and chirozo and chickpeas in a tomato sauce. Again the mayo meant to accompany the bland frittata failed to appear. An hour and a half to get a disappointing meal. Will not be returning.

Although the ambience is lively and welcoming and the staff are courteous, the food we received on our visit was less than impressive.
My friend and I got the 2 for 1 pasta, which would normally cost £8-9 without the deal. The prawn linguine was lacking in prawns as well as flavour and the summer vegetable pasta had precisely three chunks of courgette and a few slices of badly-chopped onion, covered in a bland "pesto" sauce. It was identical to something I would make whenever I have run out of proper ingredients in the house...
I don't know if the chef was off that night or what, but it was pretty disappointing. Just as well it was 2 for 1; the meals couldn't have been worth more than about £1.50 a piece.
