The 2013 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2013) edition.
Another Leith bar to make the rest of the city weep, Nobles is quite simply everything you could want from a local. With great drinks (Black Isle supply them with a custom-made Nobles IPA), a pub quiz every Monday, live bands all week and a stunning interior influenced by a sense of maritime Victoriana in keeping with the location, it’s a place that’s once seen, forever fallen in love with. The food is also worthy of recommendation, but perhaps not as essential as the rest: the Cullen skink is somewhat heavy on potato and the homemade beefburger (they also do rabbit) is low on additional flavours in the bun. A meaty smoked haddock and black pudding fishcake with poached egg or a tender Ayrshire pork belly braised in the Nobles IPA are highlights, however, as is the weekend brunch menu.
- High point: A hard-working and stunningly beautiful classic Leith pub
- Low point: The food is merely pretty good
- Number of wines sold by the glass: 10
- Provides: Children's high chairs, Wheelchair access, Outdoor tables, Live music, Free wi-fi
- Music on stereo: Background music
- Capacity: 50
- Largest group: 20
- Open since: 2010
- House wine: £13.80 per bottle

Bar Crawls: Edinburgh - No Sleep Till Leith
18 Nov 2011
From central Edinburgh and Leith the best way possible – by the bars
Determining the point at which Leith Walk starts has baffled philosophers, locals and postal workers for decades. Haddington Place and Leith Street have (understandably) become subsumed within this long, iconic thoroughfare that joins Edinburgh with…

Good food and a really nice looking bar.
The live music that I've seen has been very good and as far as I'm aware it's always free. The tunes played during the day are excellent and varied and the staff friendly and helpful.
I have noticed that people are specifically heading to from town and beyond, pretty impressive given that only a few of years ago the place was gutted by a fire.

this bar can be great but its often spoiled by a loud amature band bellowing away making any conversation impossible. If its a dj instead it works well but mostly its just average bands.

Went there for food on Friday, we had the Pork Collar and Rabbit Burger. Both super tasty and washed down with some Black Isle Blonde. Really impressed with the 'pub' food and i'd class it as pub food only due to the prices.
Fantastic mix of top food, drink, atmosphere, and live music. Highly recommend to anyone for a night out, the bands that night were great fun and very original.
Only gripe is there are only a few deserts..I want cake !

This is my favourite bar in the world, never mind Leith. The food is great. Best fish and chips anywhere but I've never had a duff meal or drink of any description. The chocolate brownie is fantastic. The staff are all pleasant and welcoming. There are plenty of activities - music, open mic night and quiz. The decor is traditional yet original. Dogs are welcome.

Really Great food, staff and atmosphere!
The interior is superb with so many traditional features lovingly brought up to date. The service was excellent and I was very pleased with both the price and the quality of my lunch!
Five stars!

Went there last night. Great little place and the food was good, freshly prepared and appeared to be locally sourced.
A wide menu and had difficulty choosing what to have which is always a good place to be as it makes you wanna go back.
Great little breakfast menu.
Only downside... not enough options on the dessert menu.
