Reading the previous reviews I cant believe we are talking about the same restaurant. Went for luch on a cold Saturday afternoon and the welcome couldnt have been warmer. The waitresses were excellent and very attentive. The restaurant is huge (beautifully decorated), there were only a few tables in but it was warm and comfortable. Food was excellent! Pizza superb and very reasonably priced. Will definately recommend to friends and family. Will return when the weather is better to enjoy the lovely views over the harbour.

It should not be too difficult to prepare Italian food to an acceptable standard. Regrettably, Prezzo managed to cock up the simplest of dishes on a number of fronts. Things began poorly when from a table of 7 all but two of the wine glasses on our table were not clean, one having a previous customer's lipstick remaining on the rim. The pepper grinders were empty.

Three of the four adults at our table had calamari which was at best average, not chewy but not crisp and hot. The King Prawns in a tomato sauce was at best tepid and at worst bland, accompanied with two dry pieces of bread. The only starter of merit was the deep fried mozzarella.

I could not sample my main course as fusilli with Italian sausage was off. I made a snap choice for spaghetti bolognese which was a mistake. There was a tiny portion of bolognese hidden beneath a mound of barely warm spaghetti. Others at the table expressed similar views as to the temperature, quantity and excitement of the dishes. One of our party had wild mushroom Girasloa the best part of which was the mushrooms.

Overall the meal was a tremendous disappointment, despite the friendly waitress being pleasant and an excellent location. However, at best the food was far below average and I would not eat there again. When entering Prezzo we passed a packed and vibrant (for a Tuesday night) Loch Fyne Oyster and entered a dismal and nearly empty Prezzo. I now know why. I'd avoid.

What a disappointment. We had often walked past this place and finally gave it a try last night. It was awful.

First, the ambience is more Stansted than friendly neighbourhood restaurant. The space is clinical and very uninspired, with tinny music echoing round the vast warehouse. There were about ten people in. The menu is safe, to say the least; nothing that you haven't seen hundreds of times before. No steak, dammit. In fact, very little meat on the menu at all.

Prawns came swimming in an all-purpose red sauce that had the raw metallic taste of a tin. The Caesar salad, which was not especially cheap, had brown-edged leaves and was miserly in its proportions. The Carbonara was dry and tasteless. No depth to it. If you're going to go for double cream and full-fat cheese as a basis for your dinner, you want to justify it on the grounds of flavour. Not the case here - in fact, worst we'd ever come across. The pizza, for all the theatrical dough-flipping going on in the open kitchen, was very poor. Tasteless dough, tasteless blah toppings. I've had better delivered by moped.

Service was thoughtful enough, except for the grumpy one. The wine we had was fine. Dinner for two including tip = £70.00

What a mistake. The city is awash with Italian restaurants - there's absolutely no need to settle for this.

2. Not even slightly impressed.......29 Jul 2009, 11:28pm Report

I arrived at Prezzo with my boyfriend to be greeted by a very nice young waitress who was directing us to a table when her Manager called her over, and promptly told her not to seat us but ask us to sit on a couch for approx 25 minutes.
Although the place was half empty the 'kitchen' had decided that they were far too busy to serve us.
When i approached the Manager she told us that it was not her decision to ask us to wait and offered us no alternative but to sit and wait..... we promptly left and will not return.
NO STAR RATING !!!!

Booked at very short notice which was little difficult over the phone (some language difficulties) however when we arrived the service was excellent. Food was very well presented and a good standard but not amazing. My gilrfriend had the ravioli and it was very dry and there was very little sauce. The decor was very tasteful and had a very modern feel which suited the experience. This place will be very nice in the summer which you can sit outside lookiing over the harbour. I will be going back at some point without a doubt.
