The 2013 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2013) edition.
Koolba began life as a Persian restaurant but Glasgow diners apparently made it clear they wanted curry. So a curryhouse – with Persian starters – it became. The change of direction was so successful that the team from KoolBa went on to earn a place alongside other top Glasgow restaurants competing in national Curry Capital contests. KoolBa is highly regarded, perhaps this is something to do with their motto: 'Please be aware everything is cooked fresh and with passion.' This ensures a lightness in each dish, untainted by rich oils and generic sauces. All the breads, also baked on site, are light and delicate. The pittas dip perfectly into the smooth, slightly spicy hummus and the naans are awesome. Given the skill in the kitchen, it might be nice if a few more Persian speciality mains had kept their spot on the menu. However, the curries are certainly tasty and made all the better by the star-studded beer list – featuring many award-winners and organics from Europe, Australia and elsewhere on the globe. This alone puts many Merchant City bars to shame.

This was quite possibly the biggest rip off I have had in years!!!
Extremeley small portions and large prices! The nan bread was full of air and cheaply made. The drinks were overpriced and the staff were unwilling to bend from the set menu , they wanted an extra £3.50 for a garlic nan! £3.50 for some garlic butter????
SHOCKING

Very good food - you can tell it was made with fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and you get a chocolate with your bill :). It has a great selection of beers (and wines) from around the world. Will return and would definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend & I were first introduced to Koolba by the wonderful £10 tasting menu that they used to do. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to book it for my 30th birthday meal.
The food is delicious - so fresh and flavourful! My favourite starter is the garlic mushrooms however the aubergine and the pakora are equally as good. The main courses, whether you choose a curry or a kebab are wonderful.
The staff are so attentive and very patient, especially when we had 16 people and needed to move the tables! They even gave me a lovely bottle of sparkling wine for my birthday!
I love this place and would highly recommend it to anyone.
