Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2013 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the current (2013) edition.

Worth seeking out at the top of Renfrew Street, Thai Lemongrass offers an oasis of calm from the hustle and bustle of City Centre life. Dark wood and warming gold dominate the intimate space with luxury red-upholstered booths, canopied with heavy drapes, adding a romantic and opulent feel. The menu is relatively small in comparison to similar outfits, and offers more unusual dishes containing fresh seafood, grilled meats and chef’s specials. Deep-fried pork is an accomplished starter, a meat that can be so easily overcooked is succulent and sweet, infused with kaffir lime and coriander – a creamy yet spicy Thai mayonnaise accompanies and really makes the dish. Crispy monkfish is a delight – bathed in an indulgent red curry sauce, so often bland elsewhere, has the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Roasted poussin from the specials is highly recommened – infused with an abundance of heady spices, served dry with crackled, salty skin which is simply stunning. This is the place to visit for some of the best Thai food in Glasgow.

One of the greatest and humble resturants in the city. With little fuss the lemongrass always provided great service, great food and the price is a bonus.

Try the tom yum or the red thai monkfish curry the latter is the best I have ever tasted.

I compare every curry I have with the ones that I have had at the lemongrass.....I think that says it all

Really sad to say that the service I experienced here was exceptionally poor. On entry my party was almost queue jumped because the waiting staff appeared to know the people to our rear and we would have been if I hadn't been forced to point out our presence. We were also left to wait for over 30 minutes to receive any sort of acknowledgement from waiting staff after we had finished our main, a shame considering we had planned on staying for desert and coffee. The menu and the food, however, were of a good standard, prices comparable to other venues, but poor (and eventual lack of) service did somewhat leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Been three times now and each time has been excellent. Wonderful flavours and attentive staff. Highly recommended.
