The 2013 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2013) edition.
It's a bit blighted, it's too bright, and service can be brusque – yet its Chinese-Malay food has kept many Glaswegians happily fed for a decade. Asia Style's décor was spartan back at the start and it hasn't improved with age, but diners come for good cooking and the hubbub of communal consuming – heightened by tight seating and illuminating lights. It's not the student haven it once was, with costs adding up for all but the most basic 'traditional favourites', noticeably with seafood, and starters such as won ton – a fried wrapper around a filling signifying almost nothing. There are hits: chunky, succulent spring rolls; an aromatic Malaysian-style fry of beans with tender crisp-edged pork. And misses: beef with ginger is pungent on the nose not the tongue; a soupy Malay chicken curry looks fantastic but is bland – and puzzling that the present and correct ingredients couldn't help out. Their star may have waned of late but Asia Style still offers decent food in lively canteeny surrounds.
- High point: Spring roll
- Low point: Missing flavours

- Provides: Wheelchair access
- Music on stereo: A mixture of Chinese music
- Capacity: 50
- Largest group: 25

I have to say that this place never disappoints. I have grown rather fond of the super fast (my last order of two courses was served within 5 minutes of ordering!) no nonsense service and of course their immediately satisfying fantastic value food. The ginger duck is to die for, as is the ever so famous soft shell crab. This is a restaurant that will always deliver in value, efficiency with the best Asian food in the city.

Great, good quality and good value food.
Should point out, its Malaysian and not chinese, which might be the reason why the food is so good and actually authentic as its not been 'westernised'.
My faves are the nasi lemak (v popular dish in Malaysia) and the ma po tofu. Also worth trying are the soft shell crab, and the squid, oh and the satay is nice too!
Also a good option for takeaway as the service is usually very fast. If you like the food here then I also recommend a new place on Cambridge Street opposite the Thistle hotel, I think its called Sams Place (but all the outside signs are in Chinese!)

Fantastic Chinese/Malaysian Restaurant which opens till the wee small hours. They do a soft shelled crab and Szechuan chicken to die for. The portions are extremely generous and the price is very very reasonable.A firm favourite with ourselves

I'ts always been a personal tradition for me whenever visiting a new eatery to choose something from the menu i have never tried before. On my first and so far only visit to this fabulous establishment I ordered squid and I was not disappointed. There was ample food on the plate, the dish was delicious, the service second to none. Asia Style is an absolute gem. Planning to go again this weekend.

They always say go to the Chinese restaurant that the Chinese students go to - well that seems to be the case here. Really good food made better but the incredibly friendly service and atmosphere. Free tea is an added bonus. Not be best location but makes a good starting to point from which to either hit the town or Woodlands Road. Only downside would be the often luke warm soft drinks provided.

I'm a big fan of chinese food and lived in China for 2 months over the summer. This is the most authentic chinese food I have found outside of China itself and it's absolutely delicious.
The restaurant itself is reminiscent of any you'd find in a chinese city. The service is very good, the atmosphere genuine and the range of food enormous.
You're bound to enjoy it and go back for more.
