Ti Amo

my wife went to tiamo with her friends before a show at the festival theatre and loved it so we decided we would go as a family wow she wasnt wrong the service andf food was superb highly recommend it :)

We had a late dinner and were pretty much the only customers. The food came quickly and the manager who served us was very nice. The food tasted good and cooked properly. When they accidentally threw out our doggy-bag portion of dinner the manager apologized and asked the chef to cook us a new portion of food. We have eaten at Ciao Roma many times and I would say the food was great in both restaurants.
We had a great experience for our first time and hope to eat there again.

My wife and I visit Ti Amo regularly, often before visits to the Festival Theatre. The food is very enjoyable and of good value, with a wide range of choices. (The antipasto with pizza style garlic bread, and the Tagliatelle Ti Amo, are particularly recommended.) The staff are invariably polite and friendly, and are always happy to advise on what might be suitable if you have little time before crossing the road to the theatre. The decor is as described in the Time Out review above: unpretentiously charming, a phrase I would use to describe the restaurant as a whole. We have taken friends here, and have never had a disappointing visit. I would warmly recommend Ti Amo to anybody.

We regularly dine at tiamo and the service and food is always top class, we have been with friends and family and have recommended the resturaunt to loads of people and the feedback is always thanks; great resturaunt and great food. My wife and myself have dined in most resturaunts in edinburgh old town and in our opinion tiamo is the best That's why we go back again and again..... Iain

I have been at Tiamo many times as the place is near my flat and it is always convenient for me just to come over. The place is nice and the atmosphere is really pleasant. I feel always welcome there even when the place is really busy. I can always see that the staff is doing their best to deliver as good service as they can. Anytime they have a minute they engage in pleasant conversation. I really enjoy that. The food is nice. The portions are really large. Their garlic bread, freshly made on the pizza base is really nice starter for two. I often share it with my friend. It is different from the dishes offered by other restaurants which most of the time are tiny and not really fresh. I really enjoy their spagetti seafood which is always very testy, fresh and looks fantastic. Occasionally I may order some chicken or fillet dishes which are cooked nicely with different sauces and served with nice garnish, boiled vegetables or chips what I can choose depends on my mood..I would really recommend the place as I think it is really nice place for pleasant dinner.

Having only just come across the reviews online, I really felt I ought to share my experiences in Ti Amo. I travel to Edinburgh a couple of times a week as i'm a lecturer and was advised to try this place by a colleague at the University. Whilst the decor may not be to everyone's taste - mine included - i'm not there for the wallpaper or paint, i'm there to hopefully enjoy a meal, whether with friends or colleagues or alone. In this regard I have to report I cannot fault Ti Amo at all. The dishes are simple and tasty, which is exactly what I want from a meal, I have never come away feeling hungry or hard done by. The staff - even on my first visit - were friendly and courteous, and were happy to pander to my wife's rather stringent vegetarian tastes, which is a first! I have no problem both dining here and indeed reccomending it to others, I am sure you won't be dissapointed.

We chose to eat lunch here because of the location & because of an advertised offer of 2 courses for £6.95. However, the service was appalling, the food bland & in spite of having had a board at the door promoting the 2 course offer we were told it was not available which meant the whole experience was expensive as well. We were a party of just 5 & the restaurant was far from full yet it took ages before anyone took our order, we had to repeat the drinks order 15 mins after the original order & it took an hour before our food was brought to the table - thankfully we had all only ordered mains or we might be there yet. When the bill was brought we had to ask for our change - the staff had assumed the extra was a tip & were all set to pocket it! We were made to feel very unwelcome & treated as if we were a nuisance instead of paying customers. I will not go again & would STRONGLY advise anyone thinking of eating here to go somewhere else.

We went tonight before The Secret Garden and I really cant emphasise how awful we found it.

The food was plain and bland, the service abrupt, no-one smiled at all and the whole thing was rushed - I've eaten in a lot of places and few have made me want to comment this much as it wasn't so much that we had a bad experience - everything was done it was just done badly.

We were sitting next to a group of 10 and as we left the all looked equally unimpressed - the restaurant will survive because of it's fantastic location but really needs to look at what it is it's offering compared to Ciao Roma (next door pretty much) or Vittoria on George IV Bridge for how it should be done.

This place seems to have a steady and committed clientele. True, the place is huge, and the waiters are very outgoing and polite, but surely one goes to a restaurant for the food? Here, the food seems like a old-fashioned British version of Italian food, and nothing tastes particularly fresh or hand-made, as one would expect from Italian cuisine. It's easy enough to whip up such food at home, so unless you're going for the atmosphere or because you don't want to cook yourself, I personally can't see the point of dining here.
